The Do-This or Avoid-That Content Template

People respond more to avoiding pain than to gaining pleasure, so a great article to write is a “X Ways to Avoid that” article.

The things your reader should do or avoid can be before they do something, e.g. buy a product, or after they’ve bought it.

This is how you use the Do-This or Avoid-That Content Template:

1: Pick your topic.

2: Decide, whether you want to write something people must do to succeed or something they shouldn’t do to avoid pain or failure.

3: Pick a number of things that should either be done or avoided. For example “Seven Things to Do Before You Buy a Kitten” or “Five Things to Avoid if You Don’t Want to Go Bank Rupt”.

4: Write an introduction to your article, telling your reader what advantage he’ll gain by reading it, and what you’ll cover in your article.

5: Write a sub-header for each of your To-Do or Not-To-Do points.

6: Elaborate on each sub-header, and tell your reader why he must do this or why he must avoid that, and how he can either do or avoid the point.

7: Summon up your article in the conclusion, and lead into your resource box, if you’re writing the article for syndication, traffic or for back links.
